Australia Duty & Tax Information:
All good imported into Australia are subject to assessment for duty, Goods and Services Tax (GST is payable on most goods at a rate of 10%) and other taxes and charges even if you imported those goods for your own use. Generally, there is no requirement to pay duty and Goods and Services Tax (GST) on imported goods valued at or below $1000 AUD, except for alcohol and/or tobacco products. Imported goods with a value at or below $1000 AUD that arrive by air or sea cargo will require a self-assessed clearance (SAC) declaration to be lodged with Customs and Border Protection. Goods with a value at or below $1000 AUD that arrive by USPS Priority Mail International post do not require a SAC declaration. All goods (except for tobacco and alcoholic beverages) may be imported duty and tax free if the value of the goods is $1000 AUD or less.

New Zealand Duty & Tax Information:

Goods mailed into New Zealand may be subject to import duty. Import duties are calculated on the Customs value of the goods in New Zealand dollars. The goods may also be subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 15%, based on the Customs value of the goods, and including the duty (if any) and postal/courier charges. Goods liable for duty and GST of NZ$60 or more cannot be released until the charges are paid. There will also be an import entry transaction fee (IETF) and MPI biosecurity system entry levy.

To apply for a client code: Complete the Client code application (NZCS 224) form. Email or fax to Customs via the email or fax number provided on the Client code application form. If your goods are valued at over NZ$1,000, you will need a client code and a supplier code. These are unique numbers that identify you, as the importer, and also your supplier.
